Christmas Crowntail

This is the newest member of my family of bettas... Nicky the crowntail. I bought him in Halifax, and spent weeks organizing things so my sister could bring him down with her when she came on Christmas Eve. His former owner could no longer take care of him.

Nicky is two years old at best guess, an old man for a betta. Two-thirds of his life have already run. I will do my best for him, for however long he has left.

His age aside, Nicky is a beautiful fish. His head is copper, with a gold streak running along the top of his body from jaws to dorsal fin. His sides run through sveral shades of blue to deep purple at the bases of his fins, like a dark rainbow. His fins are blue-green, leaning more to green, tipped with red, though his tailfin has lost most of its points. He arrived with fins tight to his body, except to make known his opinion of travelling via Tupperwear, but after he got into his new home he's been swimming at full poof. When his fins are spread out, he's actually a lot spikier than he looks. And he occasionally tries to pick a fight with a purple-dyed ostrich feather near his tank.
